Surface hardening of CrCoFeNi high-entropy alloys via Al laser alloying

چکیده
Undeformed face-centred cubic (FCC) high-entropy alloys (HEAs) always possess excellent plasticity but low hardness. In this work, Al alloying on the surface of a CrCoFeNi FCC HEA is realized by laser technique. An Al1.5CoCrFeNi body-centred (BCC) in-situ generated HEA. The well-bonding BCC layer possesses hardness as high 536 HV. hard results in much lower wear rate Al-alloyed specimen than pristine specimen. This study provides simple strategy to harden HEAs formation through alloying.

Precipitation hardening in dilute Al–Zr alloys
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of solute content (hipoperitectic Al–0.22 wt.%Zr and hiperperitectic Al–0.32 wt.%Zr) on the precipitation hardening and microstructural evolution of dilute Al–Zr alloys isothermally aged. The materials were conventionally cast in a muffle furnace, solidified in a water-cooled Cu mold and subsequently heat-treated at the temperature of 650 K (3...
متن کاملSurface alloying of Mg alloys after surface nanocrystallization.
Surface nanocrystallization using a surface mechanical attrition treatment effectively activates the surface of magnesium alloys due to the increase in grain boundary diffusion channels. As a result, the temperature of subsequent surface alloying treatment of pure Mg and AZ91 alloy can be reduced from 430 degrees C to 380 degrees C. Thus, it is possible to combine the surface alloying process w...

متن کاملAb Initio Predicted Alloying Effects on the Elastic Properties of AlxHf1−xNbTaTiZr High Entropy Alloys
Using ab initio alloy theory, we investigate the equilibrium bulk properties and elastic mechanics of the single bcc solid-solution AlxHf1−xNbTaTiZr (x = 0–0.7, 1.0) high entropy alloys. Ab initio predicted equilibrium volume is consistent with the available experiment. We make a detailed investigation of the alloying effect of Al and Hf on the equilibrium volume, elastic constants and polycrys...
